The Cloud Information Center’s Structure Builder allows you to visualize anything: AWS resources, properties, recommendations, workflows, scripts and even ideas. They don’t even have to be related to AWS.
Structures are built with a simple-to-use grid based interface, custom icons can be associated with each entry, links and pointers can be added. These structures can be imported and exported for collaboration or presentation purposes.
For entries related to AWS, any grid view in the CIC that has a blue colored column header has the ability for the user to double-click on the row header; this action will automatically send the row to the AVB Structure Builder. From there, you can visualize it.
If you have the CFN and CFV modules installed, full templates can also be sent to the Structure Builder with the option of using resource metadata to create links between resources.
For any EC2 instances that are sent to the AVB Structure Builder in this fashion from the VPC module, the saved structure can be loaded and the status of the EC2 instances contained within it can be updated with one click. Note that no credentials are saved within the structures themselves, so security is not an issue. In fact, nothing that can be exported by the CIC contains credentials.
